The Proposal
Harry’s proposal was as picturesque as the Dominican Republic’s stunning beaches, taking place on a secluded stretch of sand in Samana. Little did I know, Harry had cleverly concealed his plan all along, including when we arrived at our destination. As we filled out immigration forms prior to entering the country, I couldn’t resist a sly glance over his shoulder, only to find him brazenly declaring ‘no’ high-value items – my curiosity piqued. The day before our departure from this tropical paradise, Harry finally seized the opportunity to surprise me. He had cleverly stashed the ring in a sock throughout our 12-day journey and even left it unattended during a leisurely stroll along the beach!

As soon as my friend mentioned Tulum, I was hooked – the unique blend of bohemian charm and stunning coastline had me envisioning the perfect barefoot wedding on the beach. The thought of exchanging vows under a warm sun with the sound of waves gently lapping at the shore was nothing short of idyllic.
The Venue
The moment we thought about showcasing the essence of nature and Tulum’s distinct atmosphere, Akiin was the only destination that came to mind. Its unique blend of natural beauty and laid-back charm seemed like the perfect setting to capture the essence of these two incredible places.
Your Outfits
The enchanting dress I wore was crafted by the esteemed Willowby by Watters, a brand renowned for its eclectic designs. My choice of attire featured a striking bohemian print, boasting an unconventional yet captivating pattern that set me apart.
The Styling & Decor
To capture the essence of Tulum’s unique charm, we infused our wedding decor with a personal touch. Our tables featured rich, dark natural wood tones, providing a stunning backdrop for the celebration. A thoughtful blend of white flowers, ivory hues, and dried elements created an earthy ambiance. However, it was Paige’s last-minute decision to incorporate striking black calla lilies and scabiosas that truly elevated the decor. As crafty individuals with a passion for woodworking and DIY projects, we wanted to celebrate our shared interests by incorporating handmade or repurposed elements into the design.
The Honeymoon
As we eagerly anticipated a new addition to our family, our plans to travel were put on hold – the excitement and anticipation of welcoming our little one into the world took precedence over any wanderlust.
The Ceremony & Music
As we exchanged vows, the atmosphere was electric with emotion. One of my favorite memories from that special day is the photo shoot with our beloved bridal party. The way we all came together to capture those priceless moments has stayed with me ever since.
Memorable Moments
As I prepared for my wedding day, it felt like I was reliving all the most cherished moments from my life up until that point. The morning unfolded like a montage of joyous vignettes – belting out our favorite tunes with my closest friends, receiving a heartfelt hug and words of pride from my dad, and even getting last-minute help with crafting my vows from my older sister. And, of course, we did manage to fit in a bit of tardiness for good measure 😊.
