As they exchanged vows surrounded by 40 loved ones, every moment felt like a dream come true.

Aldea Ka’an Tulum Wedding
The Proposal
The weekend getaway to Tulum, Mexico, orchestrated by Douglas, was a romantic escapade like no other. He whisked us away to a charming private villa, where he had arranged an exquisite dinner at a renowned restaurant along the strip. The culinary experience was only matched by the enchanting atmosphere that followed as we returned to our villa sanctuary. As we settled in, a talented trio of pianist, vocalist, and violinist serenaded us with mesmerizing melodies. The ambiance was further elevated by the thoughtful touches – rose petals and candles leading from the entrance and surrounding the private pool. It was then, amidst the soft glow and sweet sounds, that Douglas dropped to one knee and popped the question. With my heart full and my answer a resounding ‘yes’, we danced into the night beneath the stars, our love shining brighter than any cabana.
The Vision
As we envisioned our special day, we wanted to create an atmosphere that perfectly captured the essence of romance and intimacy. We drew inspiration from Tulum’s breathtaking tropical scenery, yearning to infuse our celebration with its natural beauty and unique charm.
Budget
At first, we were oblivious to the true extent of wedding costs and didn’t have a clear understanding of what we wanted our special day to look like. It wasn’t until after a series of meetings with our skilled wedding planner that we gained insight into the various expenses involved – from food and decorations to boat rentals, transportation, and venue fees. As a result, our initial budget of around USD 60,000 was established for the five-day celebration, accommodating a little over 40 guests.
The Venue
As we planned our special day, Douglas and I aimed to create a wedding experience that went beyond just the ceremony. Our dream was to bring together our closest loved ones and cherished friends to embark on this new chapter in life alongside us. We envisioned a setting where everyone could unwind, reconnect, and enjoy each other’s company without feeling rushed or restricted to a single day. To make this vision a reality, we booked an entire property at Aldea Ka’an Tulum (Instagram: @aldeakaan) for five days, allowing our closest family and friends to merge, lounge by the pool, and simply be present with one another.
The Styling & Decor
To create an unforgettable atmosphere, we sought inspiration from Tulum’s breathtaking landscape. Our goal was to craft an understated yet romantic setting that would allow the natural beauty of the surroundings to take center stage. A subtle yet thoughtful touch of color was added to infuse warmth and personality into the ceremony, striking a perfect balance between elegance and intimacy.
The Ceremony & Music
As we envisioned a celebration that would uniquely blend our love with our contrasting musical tastes, we opted for an intimate ceremony. The scenic backdrop was set against the serene atmosphere of the pool’s clear bridge, where our trusted bridesmaids and groomsmen stood by our side. With precision, our guests were strategically seated on wooden benches amidst the lush trees and natural beauty of the property, creating a picturesque setting that would serve as the perfect canvas for our special moment.

The creative team behind this project consisted of a talented photographer from Bamba Photography and a skilled filmmaker, aptly referred to as One Cameraman. Both individuals brought their unique perspectives and expertise to the table, resulting in a visually stunning final product.
The Honeymoon
Our tropical getaway to Bali, Indonesia for a week was nothing short of enchanting. We immersed ourselves in the island’s vibrant culture by staying in a treehouse that blended seamlessly into its surroundings among the lush foliage. Amidst our relaxing retreat, we explored numerous ancient temples, discovered hidden art districts, and were mesmerized by a spectacular cultural fire and dance show at Uluwatu – an unforgettable experience that left us with cherished memories of our honeymoon.
Memorable Moments
As we danced with our closest friends and family at the reception, it was as if nothing else existed but the infectious joy and camaraderie of the moment. Everyone’s inhibitions seemed to melt away as they let go and reveled in each other’s company. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter and music that only added to the sense of euphoria.But the real pièce de résistance came when we decided to take a spontaneous plunge into the venue’s pool. We couldn’t resist the allure of making even more unforgettable memories by swag surfing amidst the twinkling party lights. The memory of my dress sparkling like silver under the dazzling lights is still etched vividly in my mind, a testament to the magic of that night.
Advice For Other Couples
As the big day approaches, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed by the multitude of details. Take a step back, take a deep breath and ask yourselves, will you really remember the specific font used on that stationery you spent hours searching for? Your wedding is merely the beginning of an incredible journey with your partner – savor every moment! The stress of planning can be all-consuming, but it’s essential to keep things in perspective.
