We’re thrilled to feature the enchanting wedding of Owen and Laura, which took place at Le Petit Chateau in Northumberland on June 10th, 2018. The couple’s unique vision was to incorporate their favorite elements into their special day, including Krispy Kreme donuts as favors and a sweet treat table that added an extra layer of whimsy. The elegant and opulent color palette, featuring marsala and gold hues with blush accents, perfectly complemented the stunning flower arrangements, which boasted lush foliage and ribbons. The bouquets, in particular, were breathtakingly beautiful, filling the air with their intoxicating fragrance. Another standout element was the show-stopping cake creations, complete with geometric patterns, statement toppers, and gold leaf detailing that served as a jaw-dropping centerpiece at the reception. Both Owen and Laura looked absolutely radiant on their big day. Laura chose a stunning lace gown, paired with effortlessly messy hair adorned with a delicate vine, while Owen donned a camel waistcoat and blue-grey suit that exuded effortless style. Carn Patrick’s fine art photography skills captured every intimate detail and momentous occasion with breathtaking precision, for which we’re deeply grateful.
The Proposal
As the sun shone down on the iconic greenery of Central Park, our engagement story unfolded in a serendipitous manner that only adds to its romantic charm. With Owen by my side, I had no idea what lay ahead as we strolled through the tranquil surroundings. The surprise was absolute, with nary a soul in sight, making it the perfect setting for this unforgettable moment.
The Cake
As I stepped back, I let Dawn take creative control, sharing only a few key concepts for each level to guide her vision. The result was nothing short of breathtaking – a stunning cake that perfectly captured my desired aesthetic. Not only did it look incredible, but the flavors were equally impressive, leaving us eagerly anticipating our next slice (and maybe even a few more after that).
The Vision
We opted out of the conventional church/castle/country house wedding setup and sought a unique atmosphere instead. The Belle Époque venue truly transported us to another world, especially with its lush gardens and radiant sunshine. To make our reception room an extension of ourselves, we incorporated various personal touches, such as a photo booth, Krispy Kreme doughnuts as favors, and a whimsical sweet table featuring candy bags and scoops sourced from eBay. The centrepieces and decorations were meticulously curated by Hollie at Fleur Couture. I went in with an open mind and was thrilled to discover that she intuitively understood my vision without me even realizing it was what I wanted all along. Her exceptional skill was truly invaluable.
The Planning Process
As I embarked on this creative endeavour, I had an absolute blast! Given my naturally calm and organized nature, I rarely find myself stressed or overwhelmed. While I did take a few moments to flip through some magazines for inspiration, the majority of my ideas stemmed from scrolling through Instagram. The fact that most of what I wanted was already clear in my mind made the process even more enjoyable.
The Readings & Music
To set the mood for the special day, we opted for a unique blend of ceremony and nighttime tunes. For our ceremony, we curated a personalized Spotify playlist that perfectly captured the intimate atmosphere we envisioned. In contrast, the nighttime festivities featured a talented DJ from the esteemed Ultimate Wedding DJ company, who brought their A-game to get everyone on the dance floor.
Bridesmaids
The bridal party consisted of my trusted sibling, Gemma, as maid of honour, alongside Owen’s sister Stephanie, who rounded out the group with a trio of close friends – Kellie, Tiffany, and Lauren, all donning dresses sourced from Asos in their bridesmaid capacities. Meanwhile, my niece brought her own special charm to the proceedings as flower girl, her Monsoon- procured dress adding an extra touch of whimsy to the festivities.
The Flowers
The florists exceeded my expectations, delivering stunning arrangements that perfectly captured the essence of my vision. With six bouquets and six buttonholes expertly crafted, I was thoroughly impressed by their skill and attention to detail.
Your Photographer
Carn’s charisma had a profound impact on those around him. His presence seemed to effortlessly put everyone at ease, including my siblings and me. Even in photographs, our normally awkward expressions would miraculously transform into genuine smiles, a testament to the joy he brought to our lives.
Beauty
As I envisioned my hair for the special occasion, I craved a look that was effortlessly undone, with my vine accessories woven through my locks in a messy yet charming way. The stylists did an incredible job, and each of the girls’ hairstyles turned out stunning. Meanwhile, I opted for makeup that added a touch of glamour to my natural features. Specifically, I chose a warm brown smokey eye and highlighted my best assets with plenty of highlighter, achieving the perfect blend of sophistication and radiance.
Groom & Groomsmen Outfits
Owen’s groomsmen party consisted of his brother Ross, my brother Lewis, and his friends Lewis and James. This group of groomsman was well-represented by Owen’s dad and my nephew, who also donned the same stylish suits. Their impeccable attire was courtesy of Dandy Threads Guisborough, a testament to their exceptional taste in fashion.
The Honeymoon
Our summer getaway to Sa Coma in Majorca, Spain, was an unforgettable experience. We took the opportunity to celebrate with family instead of opting for a solo couple’s retreat. You see, my brother and his wife, along with their young nephew, were visiting from America for our wedding celebration, but they only had a few days spare after that before returning home. So, we decided to make the most of it and invited my mum, sister, her fiancé, and niece to join us on a family holiday.
Memorable Moments
While it’s difficult to pinpoint a single highlight, I do recall a few cherished moments. Sharing the experience with my mother as we walked down the aisle together was truly special. The look on Owen’s face when he saw me walk down the aisle was also unforgettable. Meanwhile, one of the bridesmaids showed off her playful side by rugby-tackling her way to catch the bouquet – it was a hilarious and entertaining moment. The photo booth was another highlight, allowing us to capture some truly unique and memorable photos.
Advice For Other Couples
Step away from the chaos and take a moment to truly absorb what’s happening. The pace of life can be overwhelming, but it’s essential to slow down and appreciate the little things.
