The Proposal
As the post-holiday haze settles in, Eddie and I relish our shared time off from work, indulging in quintessential winter wonderland activities in New York City. One such adventure unfolded on December 29th, when we laced up our skates at Wollman Rink in Central Park. The romantic surprise that awaited us, however, would remain etched in memory forever. In the midst of snapping a photo together, Eddie dropped to one knee and popped the question – a moment captured in its entirety by his thoughtful friend, who was discreetly capturing our special moment from afar.
The Vision
As we began planning our special day, it was clear that a destination wedding was the way to go. Our shared love of travel had already taken us on many unforgettable adventures together, and Cancun held a special place in our hearts. It was where we celebrated our first anniversary, reliving the magic of those early days as a couple. Given its significance, it only felt right to return to that same location for our wedding, bringing back fond memories and creating new ones with loved ones.

The Venue
After proposing, we embarked on a venue-hunting adventure that led us to Cancun four months later. As fate would have it, we decided to visit Nizuc Resort and Spa at the eleventh hour and were immediately smitten. The moment we stepped off the plane, our hearts were won over by this stunning property.

The couple’s wedding attire was a perfect blend of elegance and sophistication. Galia Lahav’s stunning ‘Maya’ dress made for the bride, with its flowing design and intricate details, was truly the focal point of the ceremony. To complement her gown, she chose Stuart Weitzman shoes that added a touch of glamour to her overall look. Meanwhile, the veil chosen from Etsy’s ‘Julia Belles Veils’ collection added a romantic and whimsical touch to her overall ensemble. As we navigated the daunting task of finding a local wedding planner, our initial search felt overwhelming. It wasn’t until one of our friends shared their breathtaking wedding video on Facebook that we gained a spark of inspiration. Their big day was nothing short of magical! We couldn’t help but reach out to gather more information about the talented videographer behind the scenes – it just so happened that they were from Mexico. This unexpected discovery led us straight to booking Social Art Cinema, and in the midst of planning, we took the opportunity to ask for their trusted wedding planner recommendations.
The Styling & Decor
The luxurious ambiance of Nizuc was precisely what I aimed to replicate when designing my ideal tropical getaway. Drawing inspiration from the lush gardens, we transformed the area into a vibrant jungle oasis by incorporating tropical elements and disco lights. Meanwhile, the ceremony space was transformed to evoke an English garden setting, bringing together two seemingly disparate concepts in perfect harmony.
The Honeymoon
We embarked on an unforgettable honeymoon adventure to French Polynesia, seeking a harmonious blend of excitement and serenity. To achieve this balance, we opted for a combination of experiences in Moorea and Bora Bora.
In Moorea, we delved into the island’s natural charm by exploring scenic vistas, embarking on hiking excursions, and immersing ourselves in the lush surroundings. The unspoiled beauty of Moorea left us in awe, with its rugged landscapes, verdant foliage, and picturesque views.
Following our exploration of Moorea, we made our way to Bora Bora, where we indulged in a luxurious stay at the Four Seasons. Our stunning overwater bungalow offered breathtaking vistas of the majestic blue ocean, while our spacious suite featured panoramic views of Mt. Otemanu. The pièce de résistance was our private beach, nestled within the hotel’s grounds, providing us with a tranquil retreat to unwind and take in the island’s splendor each day.
Memorable Moments
As we approached the eve of our big day, we decided to treat our closest friends and family – our bridal party – to an unforgettable experience. A catamaran day excursion was the perfect way to do just that. We spent the morning lounging in the sun and enjoying the stunning views, followed by a lively afternoon of dancing and merriment on the boat’s deck. The joy and camaraderie were palpable as we celebrated our upcoming union with our loved ones.
